Spotify Affective Music Recommender System
A key goal of music listening is mood regulation. Thanks to the popularity of music streaming service (e.g., Spotify), which gives the user access to a million music pieces, Music Recommender Systems (MRS) are becoming more essential to help users find songs than before. MRS aims to limit the user's choice overload (Bollen, Knijnenburg, Willemsen, & Graus, 2010) by recommending the songs that fit their musical taste and listening purpose (e.g., mood regulation).
This study proposed the design of personalized Music Recommender System (MRS) that enables users to regulate their mood from one state to another (e.g., become happier). Extensive research was conducted, to find the most efficient and satisfactory design of Spotify MRS.
